Hello everyone,
I've been trying to fix a problem where my computer doesn't seem to detect an external monitor through HDMI. It actually used to work a long time ago (last time I remember it working was during fall 2 years ago). I haven't really attempted to use it since then except for a few cases where it would have been nice to get it working, so it hasn't really been a big deal to me. Now though I would like to try to find a solution.
The model I have is VPCEG2DFX and the operating system is Windows 7. I have tried multiple cables and TVs (brands include Samsung and Toshiba), but haven't been able to successfully project the picture. The original TV it worked on was a Samsung but it now it no longer does. I don't know if the order I connect the devices matter or if one or the other has to be powered off before connecting. When it did work though, all I remember is plugging in the computer with both devices on. I read online that it may have something to do with the BIOS, but I'm not sure exactly what to change there. Also I have reinstalled the drivers.
When I go to Control Panel and "Change Display Settings" and try to connect to a projector, no second monitor is detected. On the TV is says that there is no signal (I believe I am on the correct HDMI channel). On the Toshiba there is also a choice for PC, but I think ti would just be HDMI 1, since that's what I have it connected to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
