Re: Battery Care Function Missing from Control Center (VPCEJ190X)

One of my colleagues had taken the free "upgrade" to Windows 10. Win10 was not a good match: things were really not working well. I noticed the charging problem in Win10.

I blew Win10 away, reinstalling Win7 from installation media, not using a recovery disk or the "Assist" button. Since the VAIO drivers were extremely unhappy on Win10, I doubt that this button would have done anything.

Having installed Win7, I then used a Win8 upgrade disk. After having upgraded to Win8, I took the free Win8.1 upgrade from the Microsoft store.

I installed ALL that was available from the Sony web site for this computer. I was able to knock down all of the yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager. Everything seems to be okay except for the missing battery care function in VAIO Control Center.

This really shouldn't be this difficult. I am not a novice at this stuff. I've been an IT professional for thirty years: server and storage administration, database design and programming, ETL development. I've installed Windows machines from the ground up a bazillion times. This should not be this difficult. Sony really should step up and deal with this problem. I've seen folks complaining of this problem with VAIO computers all over the Internet.

Completely ridiculous! A portable computer that won't charge its batteries.
