To those frustrated by Sony's lack of cooperation and empathy for those needing 5ghz WiFi.
There is a work around

We will see if Sony censors this. I found information on taping pin # 20 and pin # 51 of an Intel 7260 AC wifi card. It worked! My sony is now runn 5ghz WiFi with no ill effects. Intel does not sanction this and warns you do it "at your own risk".

It may no work in your case, or on other cards.  It was worth the risk to me. You make your own choice, but be careful. Pin 20 is on what I would call the "back" of the card. The side with the antenna connections  being the "front" in my mind.
