Did you upgrade the operating system to Windows 10? (How?). Try this option to access VAIO Hardware Diagnostics:
- Follow the steps on this link: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36806/c/65,66/kw/recovery%20outside, up to step 8 (In the Recovery Tool screen, click to select Windows 8.)
- On step 9, select Tools instead of Start recovery wizard.
- Look for Hardware Diagnostic option and follow the on-screen instructions.
You may also test the battery outside Windows. While the unit is OFF, unplug the AC adapter -> press Assist button (this is already outside Windows but try to select Start BIOS Setup) -> plug in the AC adapter and wait for at least 10 seconds.
