Thanks for showing interest in my issue.
Some significant numbers are model SVT21225CXB. Serial 54686483-0003246. I'm running Win 8.1 current updates except for Chrombook.
The keyboard is the Sony that came with system. VGP-WKB15
Currently the function f5 & f6 (brightness) actually do work fom the keboard, but that seems to be it.
The Sony Mouse works fine - so BT must be Ok.
USB keyboards do not work also.The numeric part of the keyboard died a month or so ago.
That's al I can think of now. Hope something good can come from this.
I live along way from any where, (Vermont at the Canada boarder) so repair options wil be acepted graciosly. Typed using the virtual keyboard.
