Hi , I have a SONY VAIO VPCF13S03. I have my first original battery and a new one too.
First slowly failed so I bought a new one. Both are not charging at all. Both suddenly got the ISBMrg non authentic error so I had to disable that exe.
Laptop only starts on AC, *but* only boots if power button is pressed within a few secconds of plugging in to laptop, if it is plugged in for even a minute the power button flashes green then imediately dims and doesnt start.
the laptop only has a little plugged in icon when plugged in without battery.
When plugged in with battery the Icon on the task bar is just an empty rectangle, no plug symbol.
The laptop powercfg thing says it is always running off of battery.
Now battery 1 is "unknown remaining" on system it comes up as "???" but when clikcked on it says "100% calculating...."
batteryCare download app lists it as 100% discharging but with no other info.
If ac removed pc cuts out.
PC cuts out if bat removed while on AC and in BIOS.
Batt 2 is listed as ??? , 0%, red x,, and it has the same no plug, no charging.
I recently replaced the broken ac jack, cleaned battery copper connections etc but nothing is working.
I also did the uninstalling Bat and ac adapter drivers while on just on ac, switching off then on with battery re installed.
I'd really like to get portability back, and make use of the new battery I bought If anyone has any suggestions, or is the laptop motherboard actually defective? It works ok (although the fan has always been loud) so I will survive using it as a tethered desk top.
Does CMOS voltage affect any of this? not that I can find it's V level through an apps etc.
It's a mess of contradictory battery readings (and non readings).
Thanks in advance.
B
(additional info , newly upgraded to win 10 but i think there were issues before, but i only bought new bat to troubleshoot charging after I upgraded.)
