Re: Battery disconnected Vaio VPCSB

Hi Ajrax

Thank you for considering Sony Community!

There is a possibility that this is Windows 10 drivers issue. VPC units came with either Windows Vista or Windows 7. Unfortunately, no Windows 10 drivers are available for these units. We do not also recommend upgrading these computers to Windows 10. To further isolate this, you may perform a full format recovery. This article might be able to guide you on how to do this process: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35585/

For further assistance, we kindly recommend visiting our Sony Global Website for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/. Due to proximity, they are in a better position to respond to your questions or concerns.

Regards,

Vincent

Vaio VPCYB35AG does not POST/BOOT

Yesterday it's battery was low so it's LED was blinking, as I was going home already I long pressed the Power button to turn it off. But upon trying to turn it again, only its LED is now turning on, there is no indicator that the harddisk is active (checked the harddisk and it was fine) as it's indicator light is not turning on. I removed everything and reseated everything to no avail. I even tried using another monitor but no, it is not the monitor.

The green LED of the Power button is turning on but there is no display in the monitor, no post. I am out of ideas on how to solve this. Anyone who have some hints I could try? Even clicking the Assist button does not display anything on the monitor.

Thank you so much in advance!

We apologize for the inconvenience. Do you have several programs that start when the computer boots up? Try to boot the laptop to a Safe Mode or perform a Clean Boot then replicate the issue. If the issue improves, it means that certain programs are causing the issue.

The OS is windows 10, however this issue was happening when I had Windows 8.1 on it before. All of the software and drivers are up to date.

Re: VAIO Fit Laptop broken hinge

Hi Yuri,  I assume that you work for Sony...  I am a mechanical engineer who has purchased over the year no less than 4 Sony laptops...  They all served me will except for the last one.  a model SVF142C1WW.   How this design got passed the prototype stage is a mystery to me.  The attachment of the right hinge began flexing upon the first opening.  I took it back to the dealer.  and showed him the problem.  This before anything broke.  They put some kind of plastic cement fix on it and told me that was the best they could do.  The technician said it was a weak design.  A few more openings and closings and both the bottom and top plastic cases broke.  I took it to a Sony repair station and was told they could put new parts on for only around $200.  But the technician said that they would likely break too as they had seen this model have this before.   I was told that Sony had no real answer to this poor design....  I told them that if they the company did not make right their screw up I would never buy any Sony product again..  The technician shrugged and said he understood...  I want this fixed...  It is only right.  Jim Duncalf  HCM Vietnam
